Sup homies?
It was tough to write this week’s newsletter and I’m not sure where the internal resistance is coming from.
Like I’m still writing every day, I just have this aversion to use my “writing hours” for writing this newsletter.
My motivation ebbs and flows.
I expect that.
I use weekly deliverables to get through that problem.
However, sometimes my mind is sending a different message about how it’s disagreeing with my direction or it would like me to use my creative muscles in a different way.
This represents a difficult decision point.
Do I follow my intuition and change things up?
Or do I plow forward because I believe my mind is trying to play a trick on me to break my momentum?
Only I really know the answer I guess.
On to the newsletter!
LIVE: The Future Is Going Outside
How are you doing? Hanging in there?
If you’re like 87% Americans, you’re not.
On March 10th, the American Psychological Association published the results of a survey showing that Americans are coping with an “unprecedented” level of stress. Eighty-seven percent of respondents said their mental health is suffering from a “constant stream of crises without a break over the last two years,” and 84 percent described the Russian invasion as “terrifying.”
Now this isn’t the most scientific questionnaire.
The survey asks leading questions.
There is no control survey from pre-2020.
But, I believe it’s on to something.
For the last two years, we removed all human interaction and moved our lives entirely online.
We ripped down all the barriers and submerged ourselves in work, news, and social media.
We replaced “time we spent with loved ones” with “time we spent rage watching Tucker Carlson.”
I’m going to go out on a limb here and say that wasn’t the best idea.
It’s time to come back to reality.
It’s time we all go the fuck outside.
LAUGH: 3 Quick Jokes
LOVE: Go Watch Jeen-Yuhs
One of the best documentaries I’ve ever seen.
It charts the rise of Kanye West from music producer to world famous rapper…and it does it with footage that was shot in real time!
Kanye had a video crew follow him around from 1998 to the early 2000s as he was becoming big and the whole thing is just so well done its unbelievable.
To give you an example of what the movie looks like, here is a clip of Kanye and Mos Def rapping in 2002.
The whole documentary is this and the first two episodes are absolutely fire.
I wasn’t a huge Episode 3 guy, but Episodes 1 and 2 are worth the price of admission.
